L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad

After reading lots of reviews recently, I impulsively bought Lauren Conrad's book -- I know that I am many years late in getting round to reading this, but I only considered it for the first time a few weeks ago.  I must admit, I hadn't read the reviews carefully enough and assumed that this was going to be a book about her career and life whilst being on the hit show, 'The Hills' (I know, it does state 'novel' on the front cover).  Anyway, this book isn't far off...  the characters in the novel seem to represent the cast members of the television show and the kind of lifestyles that they were accustomed to.

Most of the reviews that I read were from people who had recently been away on holidays, whom had packed LA Candy in their suitcases for a little read on the beach -- they claimed that it is a book they couldn't put down once they started to read.  It is quite more-ish, once you get over the frequent 'OMG's and 'WTF's throughout the pages.  I have got past my initial reactions to seeing those abbreviations scattered  about the text, and I am now around half-way through this book.  I am hoping to continue to read the rest of LC's collection -- especially looking forward to reading her latest book, 'Beauty', featuring her favourite tips & tricks that she has picked up on along her way.

I don't want this review to be a complete spoiler for anybody reading my post, so I won't go into much more detail -- but I would recommend this to anybody who has an interest in fashion PR, or even just those of you that used to enjoy watching The Hills over on MTV.

Has anybody else read any of Lauren Conrad's novels?

  1. Her books are simply books that you cannot put down - they are seriously amazing! I've read all of the LA Candy Books and I really want to get her new book The Fame Game as that is meant to be good. And you definitely should pick up her Beauty book when you get the chance as it tells you exactly what you need to know. I might just re-read her books now that you've mentioned them ;) xoxo

  2. I really liked reading her books. I bought them in English and I'm not English myself but I didn't find them hard to read at all! And like most of the reviews said, you can't put the book down! I absolutely loved reading it and I am dying to read her new book The Fame Game!

    1. I know you what you mean! Usually if I'm tired, I can't focus on reading a book, but with her's, I can easily fit in a few chapters before I go to sleep -- very easy reading! I'm looking forward to reading it too! :) xxx
