Monsoon AW13 Collection

It has to be said, Monsoon is one of those shops where I normally go in and just lust over everything.  Their designs are always so unique with intricate detailing (like with Accessorize), which sets them apart from other retailers -- their patterns & fabrics are often sourced from the Far East, offering us more variety with their prints than other stores. I usually end up paying a visit in the summery weather to find maxi dresses & gorgeous patterned clothing to wear on holiday -- obviously teamed with lots of chunky jewellery, however, this autumn/winter we're in for a treat.  I think the key thing that usually draws me in is the 'boho' vibe of their clothing, and that doesn't just stop at the summerwear -- this AW we can expect to see lots of embellishment & pompom-decorated garments, allowing for an easy transition from casual summerwear into the colder months.  I often get labelled as being very 'boho', so their collection is just dreamy for me.  Their AW clothing consists of an array of florals, chunky knits and Russian-inspired patterns which are all perfect for layering together.

Two of the main colours which seem recurrent in the AW collection are dark red and blue -- popping up in floral blouses, patchwork patterned midi skirts and their statement jewellery.  The jewellery still follows the SS13 trend of droplet necklaces & earrings, with an elegant approach.  They have moved away from the 'neon' statement jewellery of SS and replaced the embellishment with blue/red droplets and chunky silver chains.  The red/blue colour combo also appears in their children's AW collection, with rich-coloured felt coats and a girls' version of the patchwork fabric skirts from the womenswear range.  Like with some of the current Accessorize collection, the AW Monsoon children's clothing collection features lots of owl/fox/deer printed knitwear & PU messenger bags.

All-in-all, I'm pretty impressed with what Monsoon have to offer later this year.  I think their collection offers a variety of patterns which allow for us to really create our own looks & make the transition in the winterwear really easy for us.  I already have my eyes on some of their chunky rings & necklaces, so I'll be saving up my pennies to have a little splurge later this year.  The AW13 collection will be available in Monsoon stores next season.
