The Rome Series: The Spanish Steps

The view from the top of the Spanish Steps
During our time in Rome, another key place that I wanted to visit was the Spanish Steps; as with most of the places we visited during our time in Rome, we accidentally stumbled upon finding the Spanish Steps.  We had decided to take a stroll one afternoon and visited lots of the shops that Rome had on offer; I managed to find a Brandy Melville store down one of the streets and I inevitably forced Alex to come in with me.  I've never actually been inside a Brandy Melville store so I was like a kid in a candy store when we stepped inside.  The outcome? I wanted to buy everything.

The Rome Series: The Colosseum

Outside the Colosseum in Rome
Inside the Colosseum in Rome
Inside the Colosseum in Rome
Whilst in Rome, we visited everywhere by foot, meaning that although there was a lot of walking involved, we got to really soak up the culture and see things that we may not necessarily have done if we had travelled on the metro to get about.  Although saying this, I think my feet and calves would have thanked me a lot more if we had chosen the metro option instead..

Rome is literally any Instagrammer's dream, as much as I hate to use that description.  Every single building you pass or side street you walk down holds so much history and the architecture is beautiful, from the colours of the buildings to the worn down cobbled pavings.  I went a little photo-crazy whilst I was there and couldn't help but snap photos of virtually every building we passed.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar (H)

Products from my La Roche-Posay skincare routine
So, not long ago, I first got my hands on the La Roche-Posay Serozinc spray and it seems to have been the start of a somewhat growing collection.  I was ever so slightly underwhelmed by the Serozinc spray, however, I might have had my expectations set a little high in thinking that it would miraculously cure my acne.

The Rome Series: 5 Days In The City

If you are following me on Instagram and Twitter, you may already know by now that I recently paid a visit to the beautiful city of Rome.  My boyfriend Alex and I stayed for 4 nights and I am suffering from some serious post-holiday blues right now.  We were incredibly lucky with the weather during our stay as before and after we left, the temperature has shot back up to around 30 degrees+.  It was pretty darn hot during our stay and we only had 25 degree weather, which was perfect for topping up on our tan (*burn, in my case) whilst allowing us to still explore the city by foot.  And trust me, that involves a LOT of walking.

Tackling A Fear Of Flying

A view from a plane during a flight to Rome
A view from a plane during a flight to Rome
'Never surrender to fear as it will steal your life'

In all honesty, this post has been a long time coming, and I couldn't think of a more appropriate time to share it with you all having just come back from my trip to Rome.

Whenever I tell somebody that I'm petrified of flying, their first response always seems to be 'nothing is going to happen to you' or 'you have more chance of a car crash than a plane accident'. People don't seem to understand that a fear of flying isn't always determined by worrying that it will crash.  I don't quite know where my fear came from, but it is more of a nervousness, made far worse by the lead up to a holiday or the long waits in an airport before boarding the plane.  My fear of flying has come pretty close to ruining holidays in the past as I can never be fully excited for a trip until my plane has landed safely at the other end.  And that being said, I'm then already worrying about the return flight home.  It's a constant battle.

Topshop Highlighter In 'Sunbeam'

Hello everyone, I hope you're all having a wonderful Sunday afternoon so far.  As much as I have spent the last month wishing away Summer (GIMME ALL THE A/W SCARVES, GLOVES, COATS, CANDLES ETC.), the sunshine today is sure putting a smile on my face.  I'm actually jetting off to Rome for 4 nights on Tuesday but I couldn't leave without writing up a post about this little beauty first..

As I've mentioned before on my blog, I used to absolutely adore Topshop's highlighter in 'Crescent Moon'.  It was my 'go-to' highlighter and it was a product that I always had to repurchase whenever mine ran out.  Sadly, Topshop discontinued this some time ago and I've always been trying to find a worthy replacement ever since.  I've recently been loving The Balm Cosmetics' 'Mary-Lou Manizer' and I've been reaching for it every day.  Only recently did I decide to check back onto Topshop's beauty section on their website to find that they had relaunched their highlighter back onto their website, queue a flurry of 'heart-eye' emojis.
