It's safe to say, I'm a creature of habit.  My makeup routine rarely changes and yet I've almost never blogged about what I use on a day-to-day basis.  I am by no means an expert when it comes to makeup application, but I know what works for my face and what doesn't.  A few items in my makeup bag have been repurchased since I was around 14 years old, one of them being the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder, which I just cannot seem to replace.  It's so incredibly well-priced for what it does and it pairs perfectly with virtually any foundation that I have ever come by.  Similarly, the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer just cannot seem to be beaten.  I've tried the Seventeen concealer, which is fairly similar in colour-match, but it sadly just broke me out.  I admittedly apply quite a heaving coating of the Lasting Perfection concealer on a daily basis to hide any dark shadows and to make my eyes pop a little.  I follow this by applying my trust MAC Prep + Prime base to my eyelids to mask any veins/shadows too.

At the moment, I am back on the Estee Lauder Double Wear bandwagon.  Since moving out, I've been trying to find cheaper alternatives that are a little more purse-friendly but I have resorted back to Double Wear as no other foundation quite cuts it for me.  I am ridiculously pale and unfortunately I am highly acne-prone, so it fits the bill as it's a full coverage foundation that lasts all through my working day.  The only time when I find it's best avoided is if I'm at a party/family gathering and I know photos will be taken; Double Wear is not kind on the camera as it leaves your face glowing White with the flash.  Not a good look.

As I have been applying St Moriz tan on most weekends recently, I have found that I have needed to swap between 2 bronzers and blushers.  On paler skin days, I have been using Soap & Glory Solar Powder to apply a contour, followed by Soap & Glory Love at First Blush to add a little colour/glow. After tanning, I've applied Solar Powder and doubled up with MAC Bronzing Powder in Refined Golden to add even more definition.  On darker skin days, I've also switched up my blusher and changed to the Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink, which is also a product that I have been using since my teenage days.  Lastly on my cheekbones & brow bones, I have been using a sweep of theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, which I recently repurchased as the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector just wasn't cutting it for me.  The 'M-L M' is far more natural-looking in my opinion and it's better-suited to my skin as it is more peachy-toned as opposed to yellow-toned, like the Becca 'SSP'.

Finally, we get to the eyes/brows.  As mentioned in my recent post, I have fallen absolutely head-over-heels for the Too Faced Love Palette.  All of the colours are gorgeously rich and the texture is so buttery on application.  I'm forever switching up my looks by trialling gold/green/pink/copper eyeshadow looks, courtesy of this palette, and it makes my routine just that bit more enjoyable.  On top of that, I have been applying a slick line of the Seventeen High Drama Intense liquid eyeliner, which I have also been pretty impressed with for its low-budget price tag.  Along with this, I've been using the Bare Minerals Lash Domination mascara for my upper lashes and the Soap & Glory Thick & Fast mascara for my bottom lashes.  I adore both mascaras but sadly the Bare Minerals one just smudges way, way too much if I put it on the bottom.  And finally, on my brows I have been using my teen-favourite Benefit Brow Zings to shape and add a little colour, which I then sweep over with the Miss Sporty clear mascara.  I used to use the MAC brow set, but this little number does just the job.

Do you use any of these products in your day-to-day makeup routine?

  1. Great detailed post. I've tried the double wear before but I didn't really like it, I think I was given the wrong shade, but I want to give it another go.x

    1. Thank you Laura, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's a shame to hear you didn't get along with Double Wear! I found that the only one I didn't like was Double Wear Maximum Coverage by Estee Lauder as it caused me to break out but Double Wear will always be my favourite x

    1. Ahh thank you Brittny! <3 Admittedly, my eye makeup is the main thing I switch about but I'm pretty happy with this routine! I'd definitely recommend getting swatched in store, John Lewis for example. It's so hard to change foundation ever again once you've tried it xxx

  4. I use pretty much the same base products you use for a night out, I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear but use a lighter concealer when I do (unless I have a blemish)! I really want to try the Soap and Glory bronzer

    1. It's really good for a night out actually as it lasts for so long long without budging! Thank you lovely, I'd really recommend giving it a go. I always rave about their range as it's so affordable for what it does, and their packaging is gorgeous too xx

  7. Fab post lovely, the Too Faced Love Palette looks so stunning and the texture sounds amazing! I used to really love the Double Wear foundation but found it started to feel too thick on the skin :(

    1. Thank you Charlee, glad you enjoyed it! <3 It's honestly amazing. I've found that none of the shades crumble either on application and that's usually my gripe with most eyeshadows when I have to work back in with concealer to mask any flaky colours under my eyes. It's a shame DW didn't work for you, I know a lot of people find it a little thick! xx
