I have become such a hawk for makeup palettes.  I'm forever wishlisting new makeup palettes, regardless of whether they are for blusher, bronzer or eyeshadow.  As I touched upon in my last blog post, I've been browsing Beauty Bay a fair bit lately and when I was looking at their makeup palettes, I found the Morphe Brushes collection.

I placed a naughty little order recently and decided to get my hands on the Morphe Brushes '12NB' Natural Beauty palette.  I actually saw Alix from 'I Covet Thee' featuring this in one of her videos and when I saw that it was only £10.00 on Beauty Bay, I really couldn't help making a purchase.  For the price tag, I decided that even if the formulation of the product wasn't amazing, it wouldn't break my purse.

On arrival, I wasn't hugely sold on the packaging.  The branding doesn't feel too luxurious and there isn't a mirror inside the palette; admittedly, I rarely use the mirrors that come with most makeup palettes, but for some reason, it always seems like a higher quality purchase when it comes with one.  It's also handy to have a mini mirror when travelling to keep accessories to a minimum.  I don't think you can really be too picky though when you're paying such a low price for so many shades.

Branding and packaging aside, I really do like the shade range.  The palette comes with both sheer/metallics and mattes.  I think that I will personally get the most use out of the first and second rows, given that when I haven't applied fake tan, I am very pale-skinned and darker eyeshadow shades can often wash me out.  Since receiving my palette, I have been using the top two shades (left-hand side) as a base and working back in with the metallics to brighten up my look.  I have also used the dark brown shade (second row, far right) to work into my crease to add in some definition.  The shade range is great, however, I have found that the eyeshadows really do flake away onto my cheeks/below my eyes and I have had to reapply concealer below my eyes after using the eyeshadows.  The palette also does have a very 'toy-like' smell to it which reminds me of makeup I used to play with when I was younger..

Although I love the shade range, I doubt that I would repurchase any other eye products from the Morphe Brushes collection.  It may cost double elsewhere, but I think I would rather invest in a Too Faced or Nars palette where the colour is also rich, but the product is buttery and does not flake away on application.  The flakiness is just something that I really cannot get along with in an eyeshadow.

Have you tried this palette? What were your experiences with it?

  1. Morphe started off as a small brand but I had heard only good things about their eyeshadows until now and I am doubting if I'd like to try them. xx

    1. I had heard quite mixed things! People are saying that the pigmentation is different in the larger palettes which is now making me consider another purchase.... it's just a shame that this palette had so much fallout as the colours are so wearable xx

    1. The colours are so perfect but it's just sadly the packaging and pigmentation that let it down! xx

  3. I love the shade range, such a shame it wasn't as good as it looks though! I've heard amazing things about the 350 palette so really want to try that. Can't beat Too Faced palettes though xx

    1. I'm still a little tempted to give them another try.. I've heard a few people say that the product has less fallout in the larger sized palettes - whether or not this is true, I'm not too sure yet! I 100% agree with you on the Too Faced palettes though - everything from the packaging to pigmentation is just PERFECT. xx
