You know when you stumble across a brand and find yourself questioning why you hadn't tried it sooner? Well, I'm currently experiencing that with Kiko and I feel a little bit like I've been living under a rock amongst the beauty blogger community.

I popped into Kiko recently as a store had opened in my hometown and I was really impressed by their many collections and the beautiful rose gold packaging that I brushed past when I first walked in. I didn't quite know what I was after, but seeing as I had a voucher to spend in the shopping centre, I decided to pick up a few trusty items that I knew I would love.
I chose to pick up a Creamy Colour Comfort lip liner in the shade 301 'Nude' (although I was toying with 310 'Hot Pink', which was a tad more flamboyant..) after caking my hand in swatches. I also picked up a Velvet Passion Matte lipstick in the shade 302 'Beige Rose' which was a shade out from the lip liner but I found that the products actually perfectly complimented each other on application. I was originally going to pick up a lipstick from the limited edition Mirage Lip Stylo collection in the shade 01 'Canyon Rose', firstly due to its gorgeous packaging and secondly due to its pigmentation/shade but sadly my local store was out of stock, which comes as no surprise really. I mean, it was gorgeous after all.

When I first swatched the Creamy Colour Comfort lip liners in store, I found them to be very creamy on application, although, this was only being swatched on the back of my hand. When I got to apply the product on my lips, I actually found the lip liner to be very drying and it sat in the cracks of my lips. For this reason, I also found it difficult to draw out a defined line as it didn't run across my lips particularly smoothly. I think going forwards I would stick to using the lip liner for it's main purpose, to line my lips, as opposed to applying it all over unless I had used a lip scrub before application.

The Velvet Passion Matte lipstick however, I absolutely adored. The product itself has Kiko's 'KK' logo embossed into it and it was almost too pretty to use. I am so happy that I settled on 'Beige Rose' as it is such a rich nude shade with a subtle, almost coral tint. It also has a sweet cocoa-buttery /chocolate scent to it which isn't overpowering if you are sensitive to scented products. I found that the lipstick was the opposite to the lip liner as it has a creamy consistency on application in terms of its formula, despite giving off a matte finished look. It is perfect on its own as an every day shade but I also like to add an extra coat of my NYX Soft Matte lip cream in 'London' to make the product feel even creamier and to last longer throughout the day due to the heavier coverage.

I previously touched on my love for their packaging with the rose golden detailing, but I also loved how similar the black cardboard packaging was to NARS' products, yet Kiko's collections are a small fraction of their price. Both of my products came to a little over £16.00 which I find reasonable for how much wear I will get out of them.

I think this will be the start of a growing love affair for Kiko's products. Perhaps next time though, I will remember to wind down the lipstick before I put the lid back on as it doesn't look quite so Instagrammable now to say the least....

  2. I've never really used Kiko before and don't think we have one locally to me. The lipstick has really nice packaging though! Shame about the lipliner... though I have to admit I am not usually one for wearing them because I'm usually wearing liquid lipsticks. Addicted!

Would love to try Kiko though, I've seen a few posts about it now!

    1. I'm with you on the liquid lipsticks addiction - I just love how many brands are releasing them at the moment! I'd love to hear your thoughts if you try any of Kiko's range if one opens near to you xxx

  3. I have to try out some Kiko, I visited the stores a couple of times but still haven't taken the plunge and brought anything but that lipstick is just beautiful the packaging included which is surprising considering the reasonable budget friendly prices they have.

    1. It can be a little overwhelming as just their lip products alone have such a large selection in the stores! I must admit, the packaging really sold me! xx
